Devices need to be factory reset beforethey can trade in.
Get the customer to follow the steps below depending on their device.
Before You Start (Important!)
Back up your data if you want to keep photos, contacts, and apps (iCloud, Google Drive, or a computer). Ensure the device has at least 50% battery or is plugged into power. Remove any account locks (Apple ID or Samsung/Google account) if you’re resetting before a trade-in.
Resetting an iPhone (iOS)
For iPhone X and later, iPhone SE, iPhone 8, iPhone 7, iPhone 6, etc.
1. Sign out of iCloud (recommended for trade-in)
Open Settings. Tap your Apple ID name at the top. Scroll down and tap Sign Out. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Turn Off.
2. Factory Reset the iPhone
Open Settings. Tap General. Scroll to the bottom and select Transfer or Reset iPhone. Tap Erase All Content and Settings. Enter your passcode or Apple ID password if asked. Tap Erase iPhone to confirm.
The device will restart and show the Hello setup screen once the reset is complete.
Resetting a Samsung Phone (Android)
Works for: Galaxy S series, A series, Note series, Z Flip/Fold series, and most modern Samsung devices.
1. Sign out of your Samsung/Google account (recommended for trade-in)
Open the Settings app. Tap Accounts and backup → Manage accounts. Select your Samsung account, tap Remove account. Do the same for your Google account.
2. Factory Reset the Samsung Device
Open Settings. Tap General management. Select Reset. Tap Factory data reset. Review the information and scroll down. Tap Reset → Delete all. Enter your PIN/password if prompted.
The phone will restart and show the Welcome setup screen once the reset is complete.
