An IMEI number, or International Mobile Equipment Identity, is a unique 15-digit serial number that identifies a mobile phone. It's like a fingerprint for your phone, allowing it to be uniquely identified by network providers and other entities.
What it's used for:
- Network identification: It allows network providers to identify and authenticate devices connecting to their network.
- Stolen device tracking: If a phone is reported stolen, the IMEI can be used to block it from accessing any network.
- Device information: It can be used to retrieve information about the phone, such as its manufacturer, model, and specifications.
How to find it:
On a Samsung phone, click the phone symbol on the bottom left hand side of the sceen. Dial *#06#: This code will display the IMEI on the phone's screen
On a iPhone click the information symbol on the bottom right hand side. This will bring up the IMEI
IMPORTANT! Please ensure you, the Timpson colleague, does this on behalf of the customer so we can avoid any IMEI screenshots trying to trade-in fraudulent devices.
